In my internet searches on the BC/BS building in Boston (from my previous post), I came across these drawings of Rudolf's...

mmmm....

I'm completely envious and enamored. As I started paying off my mega-loans this week and have exercised very very minimal amounts of actual design and creativity at work, I've been a bit (and temporarily) irritated by the course of the architecture profession (and education). I want to make drawings like this, real DRAWings...and make buildings like 133 Federal. But I can't, because it's not 1960. Ho-hum.
...(1) the post office? I've been waiting for a package that was mailed to me two and a half weeks ago. But that's not my problem. I understand that things don't operate smoothly 100 percent of the time. I probably get 99.9 percent of the mail that is sent to me. Those are great odds. My problem lies in the entire experience at the post office across the street. It's always busy, there's always a really long wait, and worst, the employees are always disgruntled. I got really worked up by the guy behind the glass the other day that was mad at me before I opened my mouth to explain the situation. Dude, if you just waited a minute and listened to how reasonable and understanding I am about this, you wouldn't have to be throwing your hands up and shaking your head at me. I'm making a friendly, copacetic inquiry. And I'm even smiling...see?
...(2) double plastic bags? I bought two boxes of tissues and some dental floss the other day and the girl at Rite Aid double-plastic-bagged it. What the heck? That's as light-weight as a purchase gets. But these days, as everyone tries to do their part by saving a plastic bag here and there, it's interesting to see what vendors have implemented policies that require their clerks to ask you if you'd like a bag for your pile of groceries, and which ones double bag your single cup of yogurt before you can stop them. Is it the difference between the careless and the responsible, or the carefree and the suckers? I don't think saving plastic bags is going to make a dent, but I do hate unnecessary excess. So if my purchase doesn't fit into my bag that I'm carrying, I'll take one single bag please.
